Copper minecraft8/5/2023 ![]() Each stage has a progressively different appearance. The oxidization process has four stages, including the first (non-oxidized) and final (fully oxidized) stages. Also note that copper blocks only oxidize when a chunk is loaded and a player is somewhat close to the blocks. Things like water, rain, and sunlight do not affect the speed of oxidization. Spacing out copper blocks by at least four blocks between each other will dramatically speed up the oxidization process. When copper blocks are placed near each other, the speed of oxidization is greatly slowed down. Copper blocks, stairs, and slabs will start with a polished brown appearance and slowly change to a teal color over time. ![]() Just like in real life, copper oxidizes over time when placed in the world and is exposed to the elements. All types of copper will oxidize when placed into the world (stairs, slabs, regular blocks, cut blocks).Only regular blocks can be changed back into ingots.Once a regular block is turned into a cut block, you cannot turn it back into a regular block. Only cut copper blocks can be used for crafting stairs and slabs. Cut copper blocks have a different appearance than regular copper blocks and can be nicer for building.Combining 4 “regular” copper blocks in a crafting table produces four “cut” copper blocks.Combining 9 copper ingots in a crafting table produces one “regular” copper block.Copper ingots are crafted by smelting raw copper in a furnace. Here is a quick rundown of how to get the two different copper blocks and their differences. There are two different types of copper blocks in the game: regular copper blocks and cut copper blocks. The left side is non-oxidized and the right side is fully oxidized. In this photo, cut copper blocks are on the top row and regular copper blocks are shown on the bottom row. Mining copper ore using a fortune pickaxe will increase the amount of raw copper that is dropped. These ingots can then be combined in a crafting grid to create copper blocks for building (9 ingots are needed to craft one copper block). ![]() Also just like iron ore, mining copper ore will drop raw metal pieces that can be smelted into ingots using a furnace. How to Get Copper in MinecraftĬopper ore randomly generates throughout the overworld, much like iron ore and at a similar rarity. Our guide to Copper will explain how to get copper, what it is used for, and the special oxidization process. If the player does not want their copper to change appearance, it is possible to stop this process (more on this later in the guide). Additionally, some items in the game such as spyglasses and lightning rods require copper ingots as a crafting ingredient.Ĭopper has the unique property of oxidization and its appearance changes slowly and randomly as time passes in the game. It is mainly used as a building or decoration block and can be crafted into normal blocks, cut blocks, stairs, and slabs. Copper is a new resource added to Minecraft in the 1.17 Caves & Cliffs update.
